Head Start Class

Jessica went to downtown Stuttgart with some folks from a head start class. It is a class to help with the basic German phrases & words to help you get around, order food in a restaurant or in a deli etc. On the last day of the class, you go on a field trip to Downtown Stuttgart. You get to learn all the ins and outs of using public transportation as well as all of the cool places to see. Frau Montes was our teacher. I am not too sure of her age, but she is close to 80. She was around during WWII. She is a fantastic lady with really neat stories and a wealth of knowledge.
At the end of the week long class, I finally figured out why Brian's German was so good, thanks Frau Montes. I must say ordering food is getting a lot easier :)
It snowed the morning of the trip, but was clear the remainder of the day.

Krautfest 2008

On Sunday, October 19th we went to the Krautfest in Echterdingin. The fest is held every year on the 3rd sunday of October. The fest is like a big fair in the streets of the town. Vendors sell trinkets, beer, desserts, food etc.
View of the crowd in the street.
I love houses that look like this!
Guy selling fresh cabbage. Love the outfit! Very traditional.
Friends Brian & Tina.
Us stopping the crowd for our pic. Germans will stop to do their own thing whenever, wherever they are, so we decided to do the same.
Beer in Germany is the best!
Brian eating sauerkraut. This was excellent! It had chunks of ham in it. Yummy!
View from the path on the way back to the car.
